Position Type On-site

Start Date 31 July 2026

ROLE OVERVIEW

Wilson Hawkins is looking for a technically rigorous, highly organised, and safety-focused Building Safety Compliance Officer to join our growing block management team.

This is a critical role for someone with a minimum of three to five years of experience in building safety, fire safety compliance, or asset management within a residential property environment, who is ready to take on full ownership of Building Safety Act compliance across our portfolio of higher-risk residential buildings.

You will work closely with our Head of Block Management, acting as the internal expert on all building safety matters. From producing and maintaining Building Safety Case Files to leading resident engagement and managing specialist contractors and consultants. This is not a back-office compliance role. You will be out on site, visible to clients and leaseholders, and instrumental in shaping how Wilson Hawkins delivers against its building safety obligations.

ROLE EXPECTATIONS

You will be expected to take full ownership of building safety compliance across your allocated portfolio, managing documentation, inspections, and regulator relationships with confidence and minimal supervision.

Every Freeholder, RMC Director, and leaseholder you work with should feel informed, protected, and confident that their building is being managed to the highest safety standards. Your communications should be clear, technically accurate, and proactive. Never reactive.

Beyond day-to-day compliance management, you will be the person the senior management team relies on when building safety concerns escalate. You know the legislation, you understand the practical complexities of high-rise and high-risk buildings, and you are always ready to provide sound, compliant guidance at pace.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • Building Safety Case Files and Building Safety Case Reports are always complete, current, and audit-ready across every allocated building.
  • Building Assessment Certificate applications are progressed proactively and managed seamlessly with the Building Safety Regulator.
  • Regular site inspections are well-prepared, thoroughly documented, and result in clear, actionable risk mitigation plans.
  • Residents, leaseholders, and Directors feel genuinely engaged, informed, and safe throughout their relationship with Wilson Hawkins.
  • The “golden thread” of building information is maintained accurately across every allocated building.
  • Contractors, consultants, and specialist surveyors are managed effectively, delivering value for money and quality outcomes.
  • All mandatory occurrence reports and compliance records are filed promptly, accurately, and in full.

HOW YOU’LL SPEND MOST OF YOUR TIME

Most weeks, you will be:

  • Leading on operational building safety compliance across a portfolio of higher-risk residential buildings, ensuring ongoing adherence to the Building Safety Act 2022 and associated regulations.
  • Producing, maintaining, and updating Building Safety Case Files and Building Safety Case Reports for each allocated building.
  • Supporting and managing the Building Assessment Certificate application process with the Building Safety Regulator.
  • Conducting regular building safety inspections, assessing fire safety, structural integrity, and external wall system risks across the portfolio.
  • Monitoring and quality-assuring all maintenance, inspection, and testing activity to ensure continuous compliance and effective risk management.
  • Leading resident engagement activities including safety walkabouts, consultation events, and direct responses to building safety enquiries and complaints.
  • Managing specialist consultants and contractors undertaking surveys, fire risk assessments, and remediation works, with a clear focus on quality and value.
  • Maintaining the golden thread of building information and ensuring all safety records, documentation, and systems remain accurate, accessible, and compliant.
  • Supporting mandatory occurrence reporting and escalating operational building safety risks appropriately to senior management.
  • Working collaboratively with our block management, major works, and financial teams on building safety budget management and service charge transparency.

  • Understands fire safety, structural safety, external wall systems, and remediation processes at a technical level.
